Our building was constructed in the 1850s and originally housed a furniture and coffin shop. In the 1860s, they installed our forges and bellows and it operated as a blacksmith shop for almost 100 years. The upstairs was also used as a carriage and boat works with a small section for their living quarters. Many of the original tools are still on display and the building boasts its original floors and beams, most of which have remained unaltered over the building's long history. The Rideau District Museum is the oldest museum in Leeds & Grenville.
